Global supply chain and logistics consultancy SCALA has committed to scaling its European consultancy offering as demand grows for its advisory services. The news follows a string of successful projects across Europe and increased client demand.

John Perry, chief executive at SCALA, remarked, “Supporting businesses with their European supply chain strategy is certainly a growing business area for us. As we continue to advance SCALA’s offering and hone our long-term strategy, committing more resource to our European offering felt like a no brainer.”

With firms across Europe enjoying double-digit revenue growth in 2023, the continent is an increasingly attractive prospect to consulting firms from around the world. Recent research from SPI and Deltek found that Europe’s profitability growth was also out-performing that of North America, offering major opportunities to companies expanding across the continent in the year ahead.

As it seeks to make the most of that, SCALA has identified growth opportunities in Europe, as global supply chain instability continues to impact retailers, manufacturers and third-party logistics. The continued disruption has meant SCALA has seen an influx of enquiries for European supply chain strategy reviews in recent months.

To lead the charge, Chris Clowes who joined SCALA over a year ago as a senior consultant has been promoted to executive director. In his new role he will be a key driver of SCALA’s long-term strategy to expand its remit in Europe. This will include identifying new client bases and increasing SCALA’s European network of experienced consultants that can provide a diverse base of expertise.

Since working with SCALA, Clowes has already managed three major projects including European strategy development for a German-based consumer products company, logistics strategy for a pan-European electronics business, and a customer ‘cost to serve’ project for a major food company. He will now join SCALA’s senior team of experienced consultants, each director of which has a rich operational background.

Clowes said of his new role, “In just over a year, we’ve already been able to deploy real-world experience to support some of the best brands in Europe. Growing our European client base and diversifying our consultancy skills will be key goals as I take on a more strategic role within SCALA. We have already made progress in expanding our European services and look forward to spearheading its growth as we invest more time and resource into European consultancy.”

Founded in 2001, SCALA helps companies across sectors with services including supply chain strategy, procurement, logistics optimisation, warehouse design, and transport. From its early beginnings in Huddersfield, SCALA has since grown into an international player, delivering projects across the UK, Europe, Asia, and the US.
