SCALA event to spotlight third-party logistics and supply chain innovation

Global supply chain and logistics consultancy SCALA has announced the theme and speaker line-up of its 23rd Annual Supply Chain Debate. Taking place on 4 June in Coventry, the 2026 debate will see speakers from the likes of John Lewis Partnership, ASDA, and Mars discuss the virtues of third-party logistics providers, and the driving forces behind supply chain innovation.

Over the last few years, supply chains have been thrown into a state of flux due to global conflict, trade protectionism and the changing climate. At the same time, artificial intelligence, automation and sustainable practices are pushing the industry forward.

SCALA’s annual debate series seeks to help organisations adapt to this rapidly changing environment. The 2026 event will therefore examine where improvements and innovations are emerging across the supply chain, and how industry leaders are strengthening resilience.

Once again returning to the Manufacturing Technology Centre in Coventry, the debate will take place on 4 June 2026.

Among the speakers are Gavin Chappell (ASDA); Fabian Koehler (Culina Group); Grace Smith (Mars); Joanne Moore (Suntory); and Sarah Payne (John Lewis Partnership).

Chris Clowes, executive director at SCALA and chair of the debate, said, “The current state of geopolitics, international conflict and the persisting impact of climate change means global supply chains are facing a host of compounding challenges. Amid such tumultuous times, third-party logistics are under immense pressure with labour shortages and the need for faster delivery. However, many have risen to the challenge by accelerating warehouse automation and robotics deployment. In other sectors, manufacturers have moved production closer to end markets to reduce exposure to geopolitical risk and keep systems functioning.”

According to Clowes, the 2026 debate will “celebrate the advances being made across the supply chain industry” to that end; asking questions about “what’s next and how we deal with the current crises”.

To that end, the discussion will centre on two particular points: ‘Are third-party logistics providers the true heroes of the supply chain?’ and ‘Who is driving supply chain improvements and innovation?’.

Guests are invited to secure their tickets and embark on a day of insight and networking led by the SCALA team.
