Javelin supports re-launch of Lakeland ecommerce site
To drive up ecommerce sales and to improve its back-end functionality, kitchenware business Lakeland recently commissioned its long term systems integration partner Javelin Group to update its website. The new website provides, among others, mobile friendly services, improved search functionality, improved backend functionality and gives customers a single view of stock.
Lakeland is a UK kitchen and home solutions business that offers ‘an unrivalled collection of creative kitchenware, practical ideas for the home and garden, and inspiring gifts from all over the world.’ The company has more than 70 stores throughout the UK and sends thousands of parcels per day from its ecommerce related distribution centre. The family-owned business was founded in the early 1960s.
In a bid to improve its ecommerce performance and to provide an up-to-date customer experience for its customers, Lakeland commissioned an upgrade of its website from its long term systems integration partner, Javelin Group.
The refreshed website continues to use the ‘hybris ecommerce website platform’, but now includes improved backend features to help staff stock the site, increase the ease in finding items for customers and to make the site more secure. To improve the high demand from mobile devices, Lakeland also implemented a creative refresh, designed by Fat Media. The rebooted website allows customers to have a single view of stock which is updated in real-time and supports the firm’s Click/Collect service capabilities, which allows customers to collect their online bought goods at Lakeland’s stores.
Commenting on the new site, Tony Preedy, Lakeland Marketing Director, says: “We aim to delight our customers, not only with our innovative kitchenware products, but with our service, in our stores and on our website. It has been an absolute pleasure, yet again, to work with the knowledgeable and professional Javelin Group team on this project, and I am delighted with our new website, with its improved performance and enhanced customer experience.”
Fraser Davidson, CTO at Javelin Group, adds: “We have been working with Lakeland for many years now, and we were thrilled to be re-engaged for this hybris upgrade project. With our highly-experienced team of architects, business analysts, project managers, and hybris developers, we were able to delight our client and deliver this project on time and on budget.”
Javelin Group was acquired by Accenture in May this year.
