Quantuma launches new transactions services practice
UK consultancy Quantuma has launched a transaction services practice, appointing Jonathan Thornton as head of the team. The firm is best known for its work in insolvency and restructuring, but is seeking to diversify its offering to kick on from solid growth in the last financial year.
Founded in 2013, corporate recovery and business advisory firm Quantuma has seen a busy period recently, as a number of previously up-and-coming UK businesses have floundered amid difficult trading conditions. Kicking on from its recently celebrated fifth anniversary, the firm reported a strong financial performance, with turnover for the year to 31 March 2018 having risen to £10.4 million, an increase of 10% on 2017 levels. The firm has been expanding its team to meet heightened demand in its offices in London, Southampton, Bristol, Marlow, Watford, Brighton, Birmingham, Manchester, Ringwood and Weymouth.
At the same time, Quantuma has also sought to boost its revenues by diversifying its areas of expertise. In September, this saw the consultancy launch a new transaction services practice, based in the firm’s London office. The transaction services team will bolster Quantuma’s corporate finance practice, offering financial due diligence services to clients across a range of sizes and sectors. It will be spearheaded by Jonathan Thornton, working with corporates, private equity houses, banks and other debt providers that are looking to acquire or invest in businesses.
Carl Jackson, Managing Partner at Quantuma, said of the news, “This new transaction services practice will further strengthen our corporate finance offering, bolstering the range of services and expertise that we can offer to our clients and partners. It is great to have Jonathan on board to spearhead the new team – we are confident that his wealth of knowledge and vast experience working with high profile, complex transactions and acquisitions across the globe make him well placed to support our continued growth and provide an even greater value to our clients.”
As the new wing’s leader, Thornton has over 27 years’ experience working within a big four accountancy firm, primarily in transaction services. He joins from Big Four firm PwC, where he was a Partner, having built up extensive international experience with the firm since 1992, living and working in Russia, the Czech Republic, Romania and Qatar while advising on deals across Europe, the Middle East and the US. Throughout his career, Thornton has worked on a range of transactions of various sizes, ranging from SMEs, up to multi-billion-pound international businesses.
Speaking on his new role, Thornton remarked, “Quantuma is renowned across the market for breaking the mould of a traditional professional services firm. I am very happy to be joining the company at this exciting time and to be in the position to work in an agile environment where I will have on-the-ground, day-to-day contact with clients. The launch of the Transaction Services practice will enable us to provide deep and thorough analysis of a company’s financials and business performance, to offer a full picture to our clients. I look forward to working with Quantuma’s outstanding team and clients across the UK.”
