KR8 Advisory and Quantuma merger forms 300-person advisory and restructuring business

The restructuring and forensic business of Quantuma is merging with KR8 Advisory, creating a 300-person firm with 11 offices across the United Kingdom.

The deal sees K3 Advisory Group, the parent company of both consultancies, bring together two of its brands operating in the restructuring, business advisory and investigations space under a single banner. The move creates a stronger, more comprehensive advisory business with the scale and expertise to help clients navigate increasingly complex challenges.

Both Quantuma and KR8 Advisory were recently recognised among the UK’s leading consulting firms. The merger will formally take effect in August, with the combined business operating under the KR8 Advisory brand.

Founded in 2013, Quantuma has grown into an award-winning mid-market financial advisory firm. The business comprises three core service lines, with its Restructuring & Insolvency and Disputes & Investigations practices – together employing around 250 people – joining KR8 Advisory. Its Corporate Finance practice is not part of the merger and is expected to rebrand later this year.

KR8 Advisory officially launched in Manchester and London in early 2025 and has since grown to a team of around 40 professionals. Most of its founding members – including its eight Managing Directors – share a background at Duff & Phelps and more recently Kroll.

While restructuring and insolvency remain at the heart of KR8 Advisory’s offering, the firm also advises clients across business advisory, transactions, capital advisory, valuations, performance improvement and real estate. Its client base includes corporates, lenders, sponsors and other financial stakeholders.

Merger under KR8 Advisory brand

Commenting on the merger, Michael Cauter, CEO of K3 Advisory Group, said: "In our experience, clients and their advisers want access to broader expertise, deeper specialist capability and joined-up thinking through a single relationship. Bringing KR8 Advisory and Quantuma together creates a business with the scale, reach and multidisciplinary capability to meet that demand."

"We are creating a full-service advisory platform that supports clients across the entire business lifecycle, from growth and transactions through to navigating change and challenge."

"The KR8 Advisory brand has been built around advisory work and provides a clear, differentiated platform for growth. Combined with the expertise, relationships and reputation developed across Quantuma, we believe this creates something genuinely distinctive in the market."

Cauter added that the rationale for the merger had been tested over the past year, during which KR8 Advisory and Quantuma collaborated on a number of joint engagements. According to Cauter, this demonstrated the value of combining multiple specialist disciplines and delivering integrated advisory solutions to address increasingly complex client challenges.

"The single national brand and combined scale of the business are expected to enhance its ability to win larger and more complex mandates, invest in technology and talent, and further strengthen its position in the UK mid-market," said Cauter. "Our ambition is simple: to build a leading multidisciplinary advisory practice with the capability, culture and energy to compete for the most complex and high-value work in the UK mid-market."

Headquartered in Bolton, K3 Advisory Group – which rebranded earlier this year – employs around 1,200 people across several businesses, including KBS Corporate Finance, Knight Corporate Finance, K3 Tax Advisory, K3 Law and Pareto Financial Planning.
