England and GB Hockey announce BearingPoint as digital innovation partner

European consulting firm BearingPoint has been selected for a new partnership with the England and Great Britain national hockey teams. Its experts will help its client to apply data, to innovate its on and off-pitch experiences.

The pressures of international tournament hockey mean any advantage, no matter how small, can result in triumph on the field. Increasingly, this has seen the sport’s leaders turn to the consulting industry, for insights and advice on where to find that extra inch.

People Change helped Belgium’s men’s team build a high-performance mentality, credited with finally securing World Cup gold. Meanwhile, EY has sponsored the Irish Hockey League, and Ireland’s national hockey teams, as part of its commitment to the sport – while also working to enable hockey players to thrive off the field during and after their careers, by creating opportunities, such as work placements, for Hockey Ireland International players.

The partnership between England and GB Hockey, and BearingPoint, is the latest continuation of this trend. The deal sees BearingPoint become official digital innovation partner to in a two-year agreement, providing services which can help the sport to flourish both on and off the pitch.

Tony Farnfield, UK practice lead, BearingPoint, said, “Hockey is a sport built on teamwork, ambition and continuous improvement – values that strongly resonate with us at BearingPoint. This partnership is about much more than sponsorship. By combining England Hockey’s vision for the future of the sport with our expertise in business and technology transformation, we have a unique opportunity to help create connected and engaging experiences across the hockey community.”

Going for gold

BearingPoint will now support England and GB Hockey’s senior men’s and women’s squads, as well as the U21 men’s and women’s teams, working to innovate and strengthen the future of the game. This includes serving as the presenting partner of the Talent Academy Cup, supporting the development of the next generation of hockey talent.

Meanwhile, BearingPoint will support England Hockey in modernising its digital ecosystem, enabling more personalised and accessible experiences for players, fans and the wider hockey community. Through improved use of data, digital platforms and user journeys, the partnership is expected to enhance engagement and broaden reach to new and more diverse audiences.

Rich Beer, CEO of England Hockey, added, “We are delighted to welcome BearingPoint as a new partner of England Hockey. This is an exciting partnership for our organisation, our athletes and our wider hockey community. BearingPoint’s commitment over the next two years is a strong endorsement of the direction of the sport, and we look forward to working together to create meaningful impact on and off the pitch.”
