S&W strengthens global IP advisory capabilities with new India office
S&W is opening a new office in India. The move supports the continued growth of the firm’s specialist IP advisory practice.
Founded originally as Smith & Williamson, S&W is a fast-growing UK accounting and advisory firm. After investment from funds advised by Apax Partners took the firm back to independence in 2024, it rebranded as S&W, building on the firm’s original heritage.
The firm launched with around 1,800 employees across the UK and Ireland – but it has since expanded to more than 2,300 staff, including 150 partners, across 19 towns and cities in the UK, Ireland and France. Earlier in 2026, it also launched an economic advisory practice.
Now, the professional services firm has announced the opening of a new office in India, strengthening its global intellectual property (IP) advisory capabilities and supporting the continued growth of the firm’s specialist IP advisory practice. The new office in Gurugram, India, will “work closely with colleagues from across S&W” according to a release from the firm, as it expands its global capability, and provides access to a strong pool of experienced IP professionals, enabling the team to build additional scale and resilience while enhancing support for its international client base.
Andrew Wilkes, CEO at S&W, commented, “The opening of our new office in India is another important milestone in the development of our IP advisory offering and reflects our commitment to investing in specialist capabilities that support our clients’ evolving needs. Since acquiring ClearViewIP, we have continued to invest in building a world-class IP advisory practice. Establishing a presence in India strengthens our global reach, provides access to exceptional talent and enhances our ability to deliver high-quality support to clients navigating innovation-led growth, commercialisation opportunities and increasingly complex strategic decisions.”
Opening the new office in India adds expert research and analytics capabilities to S&W’s intellectual property advisory offering. Led by globally recognised IP strategists Jon Calvert, Josue Ortiz Ramirez and Justin Delfino, the team will help organisations manage, protect and realise value from their intangible assets. The practice combines expertise in IP, innovation and commercial strategy to support clients with growth, competitiveness and complex business decisions.
Justin Delfino, partner in S&W’s IP advisory business added, “Our clients operate in global, innovation-driven environments, and the ability to access high-quality specialist expertise is becoming ever more important. The new India office expands our solutions by adding research, analytics and technology-enabled delivery capabilities. This creates exciting opportunities for collaboration across our international team and client base, enabling us to continue delivering the insight and strategic advice our clients demand.”
