Quantuma selected for Humber Services administration
A Yorkshire-based logistics business that specialised in furniture retailer deliveries has appointed administrators, months after it ceased trading. Experts from business advisory firm Quantuma were appointed as administrators of Humber Services at the start of August 2025.
Humber Services was founded in 2018, by Mark Riby and Alex Brown. Headquartered in Rotherham, the firm registered six full-time staff as of 2021 filings, and focused on providing white glove delivery and logistics services for furniture retailers in the UK and Europe.
In accounts for the year to November 30 2023, the company’s fixed assets were valued at £1.2 million. However, the company’s significant liabilities meant that its net assets amounted to slightly over £41,000.
As a result, Humber Services experienced cashflow difficulties following a dispute with a major customer, which resulted in a breakdown of the relationship, non-payment for services rendered and the receipt of significant counterclaims for non-performance. Creditor action meant the company was at risk of liquidation, so its secured creditor appointed administrators to gain control of the situation.
Quantuma’s Andrew Watling and Simon Campbell were appointed as joint administrators to oversee the process. Humber Services had ceased trading several months before the move, and by the time the administration began, it no longer employed any staff. The administrators will now work to find buyers for the firm’s remaining assets, the proceeds of which will be received by Humber Services’ creditors.
Watling commented, “It is extremely regrettable that Humber Services was forced to cease trading, due to a series of challenging circumstances. This was a sad ending for an established company. As joint administrators, our immediate priorities have been to seek to obtain maximum value for the company’s creditors.”
