Gen25 brings padel tournament to London
Gen25 is bringing its padel tournament to the UK. The Gen25 Padel Open will take place in Stratford this September, in collaboration with GoMeddo.
Originating in Mexico, in the late 1960s, padel is a racket sport typically played in doubles on an enclosed court, slightly smaller than a doubles tennis court. While its playing surface and scoring system are reminiscent of tennis, however, several rule changes make it slightly more accessible: as balls can be played off the court walls, similar to squash, while the shorter courts make it more engaging for players of different ages and abilities.
This accessibility has contributed to padel’s rapid growth around the world. At the same time, three padel courts can fit in one tennis court so many tennis clubs are converting tennis courts to padel courts as it is more profitable for business owners. As a result, in 2023, Deloitte projected the number of padel courts to potentially reach 84,000 by 2026.
As part of this expanding popularity, Gen25 has been co-hosting an annual padel competition, in collaboration with GoMeddo. After a successful inaugural event in Amsterdam – where the sport is extremely popular, particularly among the business and consulting communities – the second Gen25 Padel Open will take place in the UK.
The 24th of September 2025 will see the Stratford Padel Club play host to the latest evening of fun, networking, and competitive spirit, inspired by the successful events in Amsterdam.
According to a release from the firm, however, “This padel event is not just a tournament, but a unique blend of sport and business networking. Padel is a growing sport in the UK and offers the perfect setting to combine fun with business interaction.”
Attendees are invited to watch or participate in padel matches. At the same time, this will provide opportunities to meet with scale-ups and digital transformers from the UK scene. At the same time, by participating, people will have the chance to support a good cause.
“For every active participant, we will make a donation to Burgess Sports, a charity dedicated to giving every child a great start in life through sport and personal development,” Gen25 confirmed.
Participation is free, but spaces are limited. To secure a spot in the second UK edition of the Gen25 Padel Open, interested parties should register via the Gen25 website.
