Quantuma expands forensic offering into Scotland

Business advisory firm Quantuma has continued its expansion into Scotland with the appointment of Managing Director, David Bell. The firm arrived in the country with the purchase of WRI Associates in 2020, and Bell will now launch Quantuma’s forensic accounting offering with its support.

Founded in 2013, corporate recovery and business advisory firm Quantuma has been busy in recent times, as a number of previously up-and-coming UK businesses have floundered amid difficult trading conditions – both before and during the pandemic. The firm has been expanding its team to meet heightened demand in its offices in London, Southampton, Bristol, Marlow, Watford, Brighton, Birmingham, Manchester, Ringwood and Weymouth.

To that end, Quantuma expanded into the locale of Glasgow with the purchase of WRI Associates in March 2020. One of Scotland's leading providers of corporate recovery and insolvency services, WRI’s purchase saw Quantuma strengthen its core capacity, while adding a number of new clients to its base.

One year on, the firm currently works with Scotland’s professional services community and SMEs to provide restructuring and advisory support – but Quantuma has decided that the time is also right to use its new foothold to expand more of its offerings into the region. The appointment of David Bell as Managing Director will see the forensic accounting expert work to launch Quantuma’s forensic services in Scotland, assisting individuals, businesses, and lawyers on a range of disputes, including expert witness and advisory roles in business valuations, shareholder, and other commercial disputes.

Ian Wright, Managing Director at Quantuma, said, “This appointment brings an exciting opportunity to expand the range of advisory services we can offer the market. There seems to be a growing demand for David’s services and I’m sure we will be competitive. David is well-known, has an outstanding local network of contacts and brings a wealth of expertise and experience with him.  I’m very much looking forward to working with him.”

Bell brings more than 15 years of forensic accounting experience to Quantuma, having acted in a variety of civil, criminal, and commercial disputes, as well as being a seasoned expert witness. He joins from EY, where he was a Director of the firm’s forensic and integrity services practice. Prior to his five-year spell with the Big Four player, Bell headed up the forensic accounting department of mid-tier accountancy firm HW Forensic Accountants, and also held roles with PKF and Baker Tilly.

Reflecting on his appointment, Bell commented, “When the opportunity to expand Quantuma’s leading forensic accounting offering into Scotland came up, I couldn’t refuse. There’s a clear demand for these specialist services in Scotland, and Quantuma has firmly established itself as a leader in this space. I look forward to working with local businesses and building on the success of the wider practice.”
