Quantuma has added five professionals to its offices in London, Bristol and Southampton in the past three months. The news comes as the firm finds its corporate recovery services in high demand across the UK.

Corporate recovery and business advisory firm Quantuma recently celebrated its fifth anniversary with the reporting of the firm’s strong financial performance. Turnover for the year to 31 March 2018 rose to £10.4 million, an increase of 10% on 2017 levels. As the firm works to accommodate its growing client demands, Quantuma has welcomed on board a multitude of new professionals, too.

Headcount at the consultancy increased from 96 to 140, with an additional three offices taking its tally to ten offices in the past 18 months. Meanwhile, the firm’s London wing made its third move in four years due to demand for increased space as staff numbers grew from 13 to 28. Continuing this trend, Quantuma has confirmed the hiring of 5 new professionals across its London, Bristol and Southampton offices.

First, the firm has completed two new hirings in Bristol, in order to help its team build its presence in the South-West of England, and in South Wales. Mike Dyer joins as a Senior Business Development Manager from Leonard Curtis, where he was a Business Development Manager for the past year. Tanja Waack has spent 16 years in the insolvency and restructuring consulting segment, having most recently worked at CVR Global as a Senior Executive in administration. Earlier in her career, Waack spent time in similar positions with PwC, Grant Thornton and Moore Stephens, and now arrives at Quantuma as a Senior Administrator.

Commenting on their arrival, Graham Randall, Quantuma’s office managing partner in Bristol, said, “Tanja joins us to support our increasing workload as the business continues to grow. Both are local and know both the area and the advisory and insolvency market place well.”

Two experienced forensic accounting and expert witness partners have joined the business advisory and corporate recovery firm’s London office, meanwhile. Gavin Pearson and Gordon Hodgen have joined Quantuma’s fast expanding London office with a team of five as the firm adds a new service line to its offering. Gavin Pearson is the current Chair of the ICAEW Forensic Accounting and Expert Witness Group, the UK’s primary body for forensic accountants, and formerly spent spells in audit and forensic with PKF, Vantis, RSM and HSNO. Similarly, Gordon Hodgen was also at HSNO most recently, and has also held forensic audit roles with RSM, as well as with RGL Forensic.

Quantuma Managing Partner Carl Jackson said of their arrival, “Forensic accounting requires a specific skillset and the arrival of Gavin and Gordon and their five colleagues gives us a major boost in this area. Their skills will complement the investigations work of partner Mike Wright. Gavin and Gordon are both very experienced expert witnesses who have acted in major cases and were previously partners in both a top 10 practice and a US consultancy firm.”

In Southampton, Quantuma has also increased its presence and capabilities, with the recruitment of Ian Barton as a Partner in the corporate finance team. Barton’s experience includes building and leading a corporate finance advisory practice across the South East for Deloitte for 10 of his 20 years at the Big Four firm, working in the Thames Valley area for a further six years advising on acquisitions, disposals and management buy-outs. In 2016, he was named Dealmaker of the Year at the Thames Valley Deal Awards, while leading the two deals of the year for both under £25 million and over £25 million. He was named Corporate Finance Adviser of the Year at the 2014 awards.

Remarking on his arrival, Colin Jackson added, “Ian is a well-known and highly respected corporate finance expert, particularly in the Thames Valley and south of England.”

The arrival comes hot on the heels of a succession of recruitments at Quantuma. These saw Mark Lucas, Mark Sands, Mike Wright, Maxine Reid and Andrew Andronikou join Quantuma as Partners in the past 12 months, along with legal sector specialist Sean Bucknall who was promoted to Partner within the firm.
