Bidding consultancy Bidcraft joins growing UK B Corp community
Bidcraft, a consultancy that helps organisations win public sector contracts, has become the latest consultancy to join the B Corp community. After an assessment by B Lab, the firm’s operations were found to align with strong social and environmental values.
Jon Darby, managing director for the UK at Bidcraft, said, “There must be a better way. That was the core belief that started BidCraft. What if we could create a company that challenged accepted bidding practices and shook things up a bit?”
Established in 2017, Bidcraft is a professional services firm offering advisory, pitch support and tender services to clients, helping win large, complex public sector contracts vital for their growth. To back this up, the firm is the instigator and technical author of BSI PAS 360:2023 (the international code of practice for bid and proposal management), and is also an accredited training organisation for the Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP).
Certified B Corporations, or B Corps, are companies verified to meet the standards of non-profit B Lab’s standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. The B Corp community in the UK is the fastest-growing in the world, with more than 2,600 companies spanning a range of different industries and sizes, including the consulting sector – with Menzies, Enfuse Group, Pathlight and CIL among the sector’s growing cohort.
BidCraft’s joining of this community shows it has met B Lab’s integrated social, environmental, and governance standards. This further embeds the firm’s purpose and plans for positive impact in its company DNA – aligning with client values, especially our client base bidding to the public sector.
Darby added, “The companies we work with are increasingly asked to demonstrate social value and ethical practice in the bids they submit, so we think it’s important to hold ourselves to the same standard we help others articulate.”
The certification follows several years of work to clarify and put structures in place around care for our team, the various communities Bidcraft is part of, as well as its clients, and the planet. The company is “grateful to corporate sustainability consultancy transformacy for their guidance on navigating the rigorous B Impact Assessment process.”
“I set BidCraft up to be a company worth being part of, for our people, our clients, and the wider community,” Darby concluded. “B Corp gave us the framework to make that real and measurable rather than something that just existed in our heads. It wasn’t easy, but finding the gaps is exactly the point.”
