Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 appoints The Bulb as sustainability partner

Trivandi-owned sustainability consultancy The Bulb has won a new contract with the Invictus Games. The firm will deliver an environmental and social impact programme for the games’ 2027 edition in Birmingham.
The Invictus Games is an international multi-sport event first held in 2014, for wounded, injured and sick military service personnel, both serving and veterans. Founded by Prince Harry – who was inspired by the Warrior Games in the US – the event seeks to use sport to help both psychologically and physically wounded military personnel.
In 2027, the games will be hosted in Birmingham, and as it looks to deliver meaningful environmental and social impact while creating a sustainable approach for future host cities, the organisation has appointed a sustainability partner. The Bulb – the sustainability division of international advisory group Trivandi – will now deliver a two-and-a-half-year programme that will weave environmental stewardship and social impact into every stage of planning and delivery.
"We are excited to support Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 in setting new standards for sustainable major event delivery," said Selina Donald, founder of The Bulb. "This project allows us to demonstrate how sustainability can be embedded into every aspect of event planning while delivering meaningful impact for the environment, the West Midlands community, and most importantly, the wounded, injured and sick service personnel who are at the heart of these games."
Donald is director of sustainability with The Bulb, and will lead the project until September 2027, alongside sustainability consultant Meg Strahle. The team will also receive support from David Stubbs, former head of sustainability for London 2012. Working closely with the Invictus Games organising committee, key deliverables include developing a sustainability strategy with SMART targets (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound), operational implementation plans across all functional areas, supporting the social impact plan, procurement consultancy, baseline measurements, stakeholder engagement, and a comprehensive sustainability and social impact report.
The appointment builds on The Bulb's established track record in major event sustainability, including recent work on Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and COP28. Since joining Trivandi Group (which cites the success of the London Olympics as a catalyst for its own founding in 2013) in November 2024, The Bulb has strengthened Trivandi's commitment to building long-lasting positive impact across all projects.
