Amey names Colin Wood managing director for consulting business

Colin Wood has been appointed as the managing director of Amey’s consulting business. Also joining the group executive committee, he will be responsible for strategy and growth within the advisory practice.

Amey is a provider of engineering, operations and decarbonisation solutions, for transport infrastructure and facilities. Aiming to offer sustainable infrastructure solutions, the firm combines expertise in consulting and design, analytics, transport and design – while the global group employs 12,000 people in the infrastructure, engineering and built environment sectors.

Looking ahead, Wood will be responsible for expansion and operational delivery with Amey’s consulting business, operating across the UK and Ireland, as well as in the US. He arrives with Amey from Aecom, where he was chief executive of Europe and India. Prior to that he served as chief capability officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and chief executive of civil infrastructure for EMEA.

Before joining Aecom, Wood held a range of senior positions including head of Olympic and Paralympic Games readiness for Transport for London, and logistics and change director at Heathrow Airport. He also served for 19 years in the Royal Air Force as an air traffic controller and aviation specialist. He takes on his role as managing director of consulting from Alex Gilbert, who will take up a new role supporting growth across the group, particularly in new geographies.
