Amey added to Northern Ireland engineering services framework

Professional services firm Amey has expanded its footprint in the rail engineering space. The firm has been awarded a place on Translink’s Professional Services Framework – a four-year programme in Northern Ireland worth £40 million.

Responsible for all infrastructure and property assets which support public transport in Norther Ireland, Translink provides bus and rail services across the six counties. Its extensive infrastructure and estates are is managed by a team of specialised engineers and project delivery professionals – and to support that, Translink has established a framework for the provision of rail systems professional services to support a programme of capital and maintenance works.

One of the firms to be appointed for the £40 million programme, running over the next four years, is professional services firm Amey. The company has enjoyed a successful period of framework appointments with Amey – recently securing a spot on the Network Rail Development and Design Partnership Framework (DDPF) to deliver a range of infrastructure services including professional development, design and technical support to connect people, businesses, and communities in the north of England.

This latest win expands that expertise to Northern Ireland. Amey said the new framework appointment further built on its growing presence in Northern Ireland and its longstanding partnership with the Department of Infrastructure (DfI) dating back to 2005. The company recently announced a number of key strategic contract wins with the department including a £30m engineering services consultancy partner contract with its Rivers division as well as a £35m engineering services consultancy contract with its Transport and Road Asset Management (TRAM) branch.

The consultancy obtained a place on the contract as one of four appointed suppliers. It will now deliver engineering solutions across potential contracts secured under the framework – including strategic site surveys, new infrastructure design, civil and structural engineering, line speed upgrades, and rail network electrification throughout Northern Ireland.
