Netcompany calls on Europe to ‘stand tall’

Amid escalating tensions between Europe and the United States, IT consultancy Netcompany has issued a rallying cry to its continental clients. According to an open letter by CEO André Rogaczewski, in times of uncertainty, Europe must now draw on its history to supply the rest of the world with “a beacon of strength, unity and resilience.”
2025 has already seen huge changes to the global trade regime which had become the norm of the past three decades. With the imposition of huge tariffs on imports, the US government has sent shockwaves through the international supply chain, and dramatically devalued the dollar.
The move of America to penalise its allies for trading with it has also underlined an increasingly frail historic alliance between the US and Europe. Highlighting this in his letter, published on the front page of Netcompany’s website, the firm’s leader André Rogaczewski reflected on the changing connotations of the Statue of Liberty – a smaller version of which is still in Paris as a reminder of the larger New York version’s origins.
He noted, “On April 22nd, we illuminated the Statue of Liberty in Paris with the message: ‘Stand Tall Europe’. Once a gift symbolising the transatlantic alliance and shared ideals of the West, the statue now stands as a reminder of a fellowship through centuries that is put under heavy pressure.”
In the decades since, Rogaczewski suggested that modern societies on either side of that transatlantic alliance had since been characterised by “the very same principles of freedom and democracy” – which have guided their decisions and shaping modern life. But while the US’ current trajectory might call those principals into question, Rogaczewski contended that it therefore falls to Europe to “stand tall and act as a beacon of strength, unity, and resilience” to the world.
Rogaczewski continued, “We must stand united in our commitment to these values and fight for them each and every day. The battleground and the weapons are very much digital. Today, in everything we say, and in everything we do, technology plays a crucial role. It lies at the heart of our wealth creation, drives our competitiveness, and sits at the very centre of how we communicate, learn, and develop as societies. From social media to cloud infrastructure, from applications to algorithms, we are dependent on technologies developed elsewhere, by actors who may not share our values. This places our security, sovereignty, and democracy at risk.”
Netcompany is one of Europe’s fastest growing IT companies, but describes itself as “mission-driven at its core”. While IT firms and technology companies have increasingly aligned themselves with whichever political and government actors were in the ascendency, this means that Netcompany works “to build a modern Europe rooted in democracy, justice, transparency, and social security.” According to the firm’s CEO, its new public relations campaign reflects that commitment.
“We must take responsibility. Our ability to come together, to innovate, and to solve challenges collectively demonstrates the strength of our unity,” he explained. “We must use this strength and bring our data home, ensure that our societies rely on trusted applications and infrastructure, and place digital rights, freedom, and democracy at the core of who we are, and what we stand for. This is why we are calling for European solutions – built by European companies, run on European data, and accountable to European citizens. Because we believe in a digital future where Europe owns its foundation, protects its citizens, and leads with integrity.”
