CIL hires Jim McDonnell as partner
CIL Management Consultants has appointed Jim McDonnell as a new partner in its European team. McDonnell brings over 30 years of cross-sector and cross-geography strategy consulting experience to the role.
Jon Whiteman, managing partner at CIL Management Consultants, said, “Jim has a fantastic track record of driving growth in the region and advising both multinationals and private equity firms. Jim is a great fit for CIL’s culture, and we look forward to working with him to help drive CIL's growth across our key service areas.”
Founded in 1986, CIL provides strategy consulting, value creation and due diligence support to management teams and investors. As a dedicated growth strategy firm with offices in the US and Europe, it provides clients with extensive knowledge in a range of niche sectors, while building strong client relationships to generate tailored insights.
As a partner in the firm’s Munich office, McDonnell takes on responsibility for leading CIL’s practice in the city, while driving its growth across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (DACH). He also joins CIL’s global consumer team, bringing specific expertise in international agri-food, working across the agriculture, raw material and food production value chains. He has also helped to develop food security strategy for government bodies.
McDonnell joins CIL having spent over 30 years in consulting with Boston Consulting Group, Kearney and OC&C. Initially from the US, he undertook an MBA in Strategy and Economics at Northwestern University before starting his consulting career in Chicago and then moving to London. He has spent the last six years living in Munich leading OC&C’s DACH practice.
Speaking on his latest move, McDonnell said, “It is an exciting time to take on a Partner role with CIL. I really enjoy building and growing teams and clients so leading the Munich office is a brilliant opportunity. I am looking forward to working with the team to support our clients across DACH and globally. CIL has ambitious growth plans and international goals, so I am thrilled to play a part in its success and help take growth to the next level.”
