CIL launches New York office amid US growth
International strategy consultancy CIL has announced the opening of a new office in New York. The Manhattan hub will add to CIL’s Chicago base, as its second locale in North America.
Jon Whiteman, managing partner at CIL, said, “Launching in New York is a major milestone for CIL. It strengthens our US footprint, supports our global clients, and reflects the strong performance and momentum of our North American operations. The opening forms part of our broader growth strategy, underpinned by a refreshed brand positioning that will be introduced in the New Year.”
Founded in 1986, CIL is a consultancy serving executive teams of large businesses, high growth SMEs, leading private equity funds and other financial institutions around the world. The company has historically served its international client base from the UK, but has been working to expand its footprint on both sides of the Atlantic in the last eight years.
In 2018, this saw the London headquartered management consultancy establish its first US office in Chicago. CIL’s North American operations have seen strong momentum since then, with a five-year revenue CAGR of around 50%, and headcount fast approaching 50 employees.
CIL’s US team supports an extensive client network, including private equity investors and corporates operating across multiple sectors, and heading to New York – one of the world’s leading financial hubs – opens up a myriad of new opportunities on that end.
Axel Leichum, partner and leader of CIL’s North America operations, noted, “This expansion reflects our long-term commitment to the US market. I’m excited to see the New York office take shape and to continue strengthening our capabilities across the US.”
The New York office will be led by Luke Rowell, partner, who will head an initial team of ten consultants. The first phase of growth will focus on the media sector, reflecting both Rowell’s expertise, and the strong cross-Atlantic ties between CIL’s client base in London and New York.
Rowell added, “New York is a natural next step for CIL. We already work closely with clients in the area, and having a permanent base here allows us to deepen those relationships and be even more present locally. I’m looking forward to building the team and contributing to the next phase of our US growth.”
