Cambridge Consultants has appointed Monty Barlow as its new CEO. The news comes as Eric Wilkinson steps down from his role leading the development and technology advisory firm.

Eric Wilkinson has been with Cambridge Consultants for more than 31 years. He held the CEO role since 2017 – and has underseen an era of major change for the consultancy, as it obtained new backing to expand its services globally.

In 2020, Cambridge Consultants’ parent company, Altran, was acquired by Capgemini. In 2022, Cambridge Consultants rebranded as part of the digital innovation wing of Capgemini Invent, providing it with the backing of a global business consultancy, and 325,000 team members in more than 50 countries.

As he retires from the firm, Wilkinson commented, “I want to thank everyone at Cambridge Consultants for their support and dedication; we have achieved a great deal together. The next decade will see huge opportunities for companies brave enough to challenge the technology status quo to radically improve their future, and the future of our society. Monty is perfectly placed to take the company on this new and exciting journey.”

Stepping into his shoes is another Cambridge Consultants veteran – Monty Barlow. He has spent 23 years with the firm, most recently as Chief Technology Officer. This saw him work to incubate new strategic technology groups, helping to extend Cambridge Consultants’ expertise in bleeding edge technologies such as synthetic biology, machine psychology and quantum computation.

Looking ahead, this positions Barlow well to lead the firm’s global team of engineers, scientists, designers, and consultants, helping deliver over 500 scientific, engineering and design projects each year for some of the world’s biggest brands. Cambridge Consultants has 850 professionals, and more than 20,000 sqm of state-of-the-art R&D facilities – with over 100 fully equipped labs, design offices and workshops.

On his appointment, Barlow added, “I am energised by the opportunity to lead Cambridge Consultants into the next phase of its growth within Capgemini. I would like to thank Eric Wilkinson for his contribution over the past 31 years, and for his inspiring leadership. Cambridge Consultants is now embarking on a new chapter, leveraging its position within the Capgemini Group to help our clients achieve significant positive societal impact.”
