David Barnett joins Barnett Waddingham as Principal
Barnett Waddingham has appointed David Barnett to the newly-created role of Senior Investment Consultant. According to Rod Goodyer, Partner and Head of Investment Consulting at Barnett Waddingham, Barnett’s industry knowledge and experience “will bolster our already valued bespoke services available to each of our clients.”
Goodyer continued, “David has an outstanding reputation in the industry, this alongside his demonstrated expertise in advising large DB schemes and investment strategies will be invaluable qualities which complement the continued success of the investment team here at BW.”
Barnett joins the firm as a Principal with more than 13 years of experience in the industry, having held a number of high-profile roles. He arrives from Willis Towers Watson, where he was a Senior Investment Consultant for nearly ten years, and supported UK DB pension schemes ranging in size from £250 million to £4 billion. Prior to that he was an Associate at Xafinity Consulting, and was also at Big Four firm PwC.
At Barnett Waddingham, Barnett will also take on the role of Senior Investment Consultant, helping to further strengthen the growth in the firm’s investment consulting team with a specific focus on large, multi-billion pound schemes. In the newly created role, he will also deliver overall oversight and management of client’s investments while offering detailed supervision of the underlying investment functions. His actuarial background bolsters his expertise of pension liabilities and the issues beyond investment which impact the management of a pension fund.
Commenting on his new challenge, Barnett said, “My approach is collaborative, focussing on ensuring all stakeholders know what the key decisions are and why they are taken. Often a failure to understand, is because of a failure to communicate and at BW we do not believe there is a one-size-fits-all solution.
