Barnett Waddingham bolsters Scottish presence with Edinburgh office
Barnett Waddingham has launched a new office in Edinburgh. According to the firm, the move reinforces the consultancy’s commitment to Scotland, building on its recent expansion into Glasgow’s Cadworks development.
Andrew Simpson, partner and Edinburgh office lead, commented, “We are excited to open our 11th office here, in a move that strengthens our ability to deliver tailored advice and practical solutions to clients. We’re looking forward to deepening our engagement with clients and colleagues across the region and contributing to Edinburgh’s professional community."
Comprising of over 1,700 people, with a national presence across multiple UK offices, BW is a consultancy specialising in risk, pensions, investment, and insurance. Since its acquisition by global insurance and employee benefits intermediary group Howden in April 2025, the firm has been seeking to expand its footprint across its markets – with acquisitions and hiring campaigns of its own.
The Edinburgh office adds to BW’s recently expanded Glasgow presence, and marks the firm’s 11th UK base, demonstrating its continued investment in expansion across the UK’s key financial centres. The consultancy’s launch of a dedicated city base at Spaces, Lochrin Square, will see it occupy the fourth floor with a team of experts from its key services of risk, pensions, investment, and insurance.
Looking ahead, the move strengthens BW’s ability to deliver an exceptional service to its Scottish clients and follows its recent acquisition by Howden, the global insurance and employee benefits intermediary group.
Andrew Vaughan, senior partner at Barnett Waddingham, added, "Edinburgh is one of the UK’s leading financial centres, with a thriving community of insurers, asset managers, and FinTech firms alongside some of the country’s best actuarial and financial services talent, so we were keen to amplify our presence here as part of our ambitious growth plans. As part of Howden we are stronger together, and establishing a base in the city builds on our shared ambitions in the Scottish market.”
