Chaucer appoints Ian Miller as Head of Public Sector
Government expert Ian Miller joins Chaucer to lead the firm’s public sector team. He brings with him three decades of strategic consulting, international leadership and government sector experience.
As the public sector looks to cope with the increased strain on its digital services during lockdown, Chaucer has prepared for heightened client demand by appointing Ian Miller to lead its Public Sector group.
Miller joins the partner team working alongside long-term government advisor, Richard Thwaite, and Chaucer’s existing public sector consulting team. Together, they will lead the firm’s efforts in policing, Home Office, DWP and beyond.
Thwaite remarked, “Chaucer is demonstrating its long-term commitment to supporting central government through appointing a key advisor of Ian’s calibre. I am delighted to have the opportunity to forge a strategic partnership with him that will ensure demand-driven and outcome-focused solutions are created to support and add continued value to central government.”
Specialising in strategy, performance improvement and the strategic use of IT, Miller brings with him more than 30 years of experience in senior line management positions in the UK and US and in providing strategic advisory services to clients ranging from multi-national corporations to smaller businesses.
His extensive career has included advising an Italian State Company on strategy and organisation, led the acquisition of a public sector company by a private sector buyer, advised the NHS and DWP on negotiating strategy and contractor relationship management, and developed the strategy for the public sector across EMEA for Keane Inc and NTT Data. He has also been recognised with an MBE for his services to policing.
Earlier in the year, Italian headquartered international consultancy BIP completed a major investment in Chaucer. Growth Capital Partners, the private equity firm who had been Chaucer’s backer since 2014, was advised on the deal by independent investment banking firm Alantra.
Miller commented, “I am joining Chaucer at a time when the company is growing rapidly and is taking market share in the public sector. This is a reflection of the quality of the people, our methodologies and sector knowledge which is second to none. I’m looking forward to working with the team to build on our achievements and take it to its next level of success with the added capability that the merger with BIP brings.”
Founded by Bob and Chris Laslett, consulting firm Chaucer also works for clients in among others the energy, life sciences, financial services, technology, media and telecommunications sectors.
Last year, Chaucer was lauded as one of the UK’s top digital transformation consulting providers.
