Bain, KPMG and PwC win award for M&A work on Callcredit deal
Three consulting firms behind a billion pound deal in 2018 have been handed a prize by the annual M&A Advisor Awards. Bain & Company, PwC and KPMG were named as co-winners of the Private Equity Deal of the Year (over $1 billion) prize, to be handed out in New York in early June.
In June 2018, US credit reporting agency TransUnion bought Leeds-based Callcredit, the second-largest credit reporting firm in Britain, for approximately £1 billion. The move marked TransUnion's entry into Europe and was aimed at expanding the company's international business.
Founded in 2000, Callcredit is a UK-based information solutions company that provides data, analytics and technology solutions to help businesses and consumers make informed decisions. The company has seen rapid growth in recent years amid booming demand for credit-checking services, in response to the proliferation of non-traditional lenders to consumers.
The cross border US-UK deal was advised on by a roster of M&A advisors. The two parties were advised by inhouse advisors of private equity seller GTCR, Jeffries International, RBC Capital Markets, Kirkland & Ellis, Sidley Austin, Merrill Corporation and Credit Suisse, as well as consulting teams from PwC, KPMG and Bain & Company.
Now, almost a year later, the fleet of M&A consultancy firms have been awarded a Private Equity Deal of the Year Award (in the over $1 billion category) at the M&A Advisor Awards. Winners of the competition for excellence in mrgers & acquisitions were selected by an independent judging panel of industry experts who evaluated nominations representing hundreds of companies around the world – a wide and varied group with deals valued at $10 million to tens of billions.
The annual M&A Advisor Awards will be hosted at a black-tie gala on June 5, in the US metropolis of New York. A total of eleven consulting firms have been lauded for the quality of their M&A services delivered over the past year at the international ceremony. Hosted in midtown Manhattan’s New York Athletic Club, the event will honour Equiteq, EY, Deloitte, FTI Consulting, Berkely Research Group, Drake Start Partners, AlixPartners and Alvarez & Marsal, alongside PwC, KPMG and Bain & Company.
