Salford-based Mason Advisory has been received a Queen’s Award for Enterprise. The firm was handed the prize by the Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester.

Announced annually on Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday, the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise have been operating in various forms since 1966. The Queen hands the prizes to top businesses, on the advice of the incumbent Prime Minister, who is assisted by an Advisory Committee that includes representatives of Government, industry and commerce, and the trade unions.

When the most recent recipients were revealed in April 2018, independent IT consultancy Mason Advisory was among those recognised, picking up a gong for International Trade. The recommendation of the firm by the Prime Minister to the Queen was based on the Manchester-based company’s successful business projects overseas, advising across the public and private sector. This included projects all over the world, including the USA, Switzerland, Norway, Ireland, Jamaica, Qatar, and Mauritius.

Six months later, the firm has been presented with its honour by the Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, Warren Smith. Smith, who is the representative of UK monarch Queen Elizabeth II in the metropolitan area of Greater Manchester, visited Mason Advisory in its base at the MediaCityUK, Salford, to formally hand the company with a certificate marking its victory.

Mason Advisory also has an office in London and employs over 30 staff, with plans to continue its expansion during 2018. It provides IT consultancy services to match technology know-how with commercial and business sense. Mason Advisory is the only company in Salford to receive the award this year.

The presentation was attended by Steve Watmough, CEO, as well as the wider team from Mason Advisory’s offices around the UK. The occasion was followed by tea and cakes to celebrate the occasion.

Watmough commented on the event, “It is such an incredible honour for us and a huge privilege to welcome Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, Warren Smith, to our new offices. This is the first time we have entered and won the awards and it’s exciting that we are the only company in Salford to receive a Queen’s award in 2018. We discussed international trade and the growing importance of the North West as a business hub. He was impressed with the progress our company is making and how the IT industry is prospering both at home and internationally.”
