Pankaj Gupta appointed to lead Synechron's UK business consulting team
Former Infosys and Arthur Andersen staffer Pankaj Gupta has been hired by Synechron to lead the global firm’s business consulting team in the UK. As a Managing Director, Gupta will need to draw on his considerable industry knowledge to help expand the profile of the firm in Britain and across the world.
Synechron has been working to expand its global presence, as the firm anticipates growing demand from clients over 2018. This is particularly likely in the financial services sector, where firms face changing regulatory expectations such as the GDPR, and a shifting geopolitical playing field induced by Brexit, in addition to the protectionist policies of US President Donald Trump.
Now, the US headquartered company – which is one of the largest professional services firms dedicated to the financial services industry with over 8,000 employees across 18 offices worldwide – has hired a new Managing Director to lead its business consulting team in the UK, where these forces of change mean that many businesses involved in the financial services ecosystem are currently weighing up their future in the UK, and have a growing need to consult external expertise.
Prior to Infosys, Gupta held positions at a succession of high profile consulting firms. Following his completion of a Master’s degree in Business Administration at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, Gupta joined the former ‘Big Five’ professional services giant Arthur Andersen in 1995. Over the course of his three year stint with the firm, Gupta rose to the rank of Senior Consultant, gaining expertise on transaction advisory services, regulatory compliance, business architecture and operating models, and business change enablement, among other skills, before departing in 1998 to join Booz Allen. Gupta would spend four years with the company, becoming an Engagement Manager, before once again moving on.
In 2002, Pankaj Gupta arrived at Infosys, where he would spend the next 16 years of his career. Eventually, he became a Partner for Financial Services at the firm, before deciding that the time was right for a new challenge this year. In his new role, Gupta will be responsible for the development of the UK business consulting team’s profile, as well as for aiding Synechron in its quest to expand its market presence with global clients. Based in London, the new Managing Director for business consulting will report to Tony Clark, Synechron’s London Managing Director.
Commenting on the appointment, Faisal Husain, co-founder and CEO of Synechron, said, “Pankaj Gupta has an impressive career working with banks to develop regulatory, compliance, and business operations and architectures that I am confident will help compliment that mission.”
Gupta himself added, “Regulatory changes, enhanced digital capabilities and technology innovation are huge drivers for financial services firms, as they transform their business models in search of sustainable revenues and efficient cost structures. Synechron is well-positioned to provide inception-to-execution services in these unique times for our clients.”
