BearingPoint alumnus joins Mighty River Power in 2015
New Zealand electricity company Mighty River Power announced the appointment of Toni Laming as its General Manager Strategy & Communications, starting early 2015. Laming returns to New Zealand and joins the company after a 4 year career in Australia at Orica. Prior to this, Laming, among others, acted as Senior Manager/Director at BearingPoint.
Mighty River Power is an in 1999 established electricity generation and electricity retailing company in New Zealand. The company has a market share of around 20% and generates about 17% of New Zealand’s electricity, 90% of the company’s electricity comes from renewable sources.
Recently, the company announced the appointment of Toni Laming as its new General Manager Strategy & Communications as of early 2015. In this role, Laming will, according to CEO Fraser Whineray, support the firm’s future direction and oversee strategic projects, ICT and external communications. “We’re looking forward to having Toni’s experience, skills and drive to complement our leadership team. This is a key role for Mighty River Power as we continue to evolve our business, and achieve further growth in what is a highly dynamic and competitive market,” says Whineray.
Laming will join Mighty River Power after a four year career at company Orica in Australia, a company where she fulfilled different roles and where she leaves as the Global Head of Customer Centricity. Prior to this, she worked among others at Fonterra for five years, where she acted as General Manager of International Options and General Manager Group Corporate Strategy, at consulting firm BearingPoint/KPMG Consulting, where she acted as Senior Manager/Director for six years, and at Fletcher Building, where she worked as the Marketing Director of Fletcher Aluminium. Laming has a Bachelor in Applied Chemistry of the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
