Accenture helps Cricket Australia with digital technology
Consulting firm Accenture has been awarded a four-year contract by Cricket Australia, to provide it with digital transformation capabilities. The new partnership follows an agreement between the two parties in 2013, as part of which Accenture has provided Cricket Australia with live streaming capabilities.

Cricket Australia (CA) is Australia’s governing body for professional and amateur cricket, founded in 1905 as the ‘Australian Board of Control for International Cricket’. CA is responsible for the development of cricket in the Pacific region, and falls under the International Cricket Council's development program. CA has 200 employees working from its head office in Jolimont, and its National Cricket Centre in Brisbane.
In line with its drive to provide enhanced digital experiences directly to cricket fans, CA has awarded Accenture a four-year contract to deliver digital transformation capabilities. “We recognised that there was an appetite among our fans for greater and improved access to cricket action, and the appointment of Accenture demonstrates our dedication to providing a digital experience that meets this demand,” says Ben Amarfio, Executive General Manager – Media, Communications & Marketing at Cricket Australia.
Accenture’s win of the contract follows a 2013-agreement with AC, during which it provided live streaming and subscriber management capabilities, allowing cricket fans to watch matches live via the Accenture Video Solution and digital video capabilities on their computers, smartphones and tablets. Amarfio explains: “Accenture demonstrated its capabilities with the development and implementation of Cricket Australia’s streaming service last season, and I am confident that our broadened partnership will deliver world-class digital solutions to bring our fans closer to the cricket action on any device, anywhere and anytime.”
Accenture will take on the role of the Official Digital Technology Partner of CA. In this role, the consulting firm will develop CA’s mobile application, and implement its web portal. Other transformation work includes analytics, social media, and content management. “Accenture will team with Cricket Australia to deliver integrated digital business and technology services, positioning the sport of cricket as a leader in using digital technologies to improve the fan experience,” comments Russell Smyth, Managing Director – Communications, Media & Technology at Accenture Australia.
