BridgePro named leading procurement consultancy and services provider
BridgePro, a London-based boutique, has been recognised as one of the country’s leading procurement consultancies and providers in the latest Business Management Review Awards.
The firm was acknowledged for its end-to-end procurement model, which combines advisory with transformation support, spend optimisation services and a fully outsourced procurement-as-a-service offering.
“We don’t just advise on procurement – we also run it,” said Phil Machin, Founder and CEO of BridgePro. “We help clients identify improvement opportunities and cost efficiencies, fix underperforming procurement functions, and ultimately take ownership of delivery by embedding our specialists directly within their organisations.”
Machin explained that every engagement begins with a detailed assessment of the client’s existing procurement capability. “We carry out a diagnostic to establish a baseline and then agree clear performance targets with the client. These typically include measurable outcomes around cost savings, cost avoidance and return on investment against our fees.”
Following the assessment, BridgePro works closely with procurement leadership to establish priorities while ensuring alignment across the executive team.
“We share our findings with the Chief Procurement Officer and agree the objectives and mandate for the programme. Equally important is securing alignment with the CEO and CFO from the outset, because procurement initiatives only succeed when they support wider business priorities.”
A strong emphasis is placed on delivering value quickly. Within the first 30 to 60 days, BridgePro analyses procurement spend, identifies immediate opportunities and develops a 100-day value creation plan focused on high-impact initiatives.
“Our team takes ownership of procurement performance, from supplier negotiations and contract renewals through to spend optimisation and supplier governance. We manage the engagement end-to-end and remain accountable for delivering measurable results.”
Fragmented spend and ownership
One recent engagement illustrates the scale of untapped value that often exists within large organisations. BridgeProdiscovered that a client was operating nearly 400 software platforms across the business, although only around 300 carried active licences or costs.
“Nobody had complete visibility of what the organisation was actually using,” said Machin. “If you don’t know which platforms your business relies on, you’re not only wasting money, you’re also creating unnecessary operational and supplier risk.”
Working alongside the client, BridgePro consolidated fragmented ownership of technology procurement, strengthened supplier governance and rationalised the software estate, delivering both financial savings and improved risk management.
According to Machin, this type of situation is far from unusual. “In many large organisations, particularly within IT, procurement responsibilities become fragmented across departments. Contract renewals happen automatically, supplier relationships aren’t actively managed and spending continues with very little visibility. Over time, unmanaged supplier risk quietly accumulates.”
He believes procurement should play a far more strategic role within organisations. “Too often procurement is brought in after key commercial decisions have already been made. When procurement is involved from the beginning, it becomes a driver of value creation rather than simply a cost-control function.”
Value beyond cost savings
That value extends well beyond reducing expenditure. Effective supplier management strengthens operational resilience, improves governance and helps organisations build more sustainable supply chains.
“We work with clients to understand the standards their own customers expect, and then design supplier governance frameworks that reinforce those expectations. Through regular business reviews, performance monitoring and ongoing supplier engagement, accountability continues long after contracts have been signed.”
Sustainability is also becoming an increasingly important component of procurement strategy. As environmental, social and governance (ESG) expectations continue to rise, organisations are under growing pressure to ensure their supply chains comply with evolving regulatory and customer requirements.
“Procurement plays an integral role in helping businesses achieve their sustainability objectives. ESG is no longer a standalone compliance exercise – it’s becoming a core criterion for supplier selection, performance management and long-term commercial partnerships.”
Not just large organisations
BridgePro also supports smaller organisations that lack an in-house procurement function. According to Machin, these businesses often face different but equally significant challenges. “Without dedicated procurement expertise, contracts are frequently managed across multiple departments, renewals are missed, supplier risks go unnoticed and spending receives very little strategic oversight.”
BridgePro’s procurement-as-a-service model enables these organisations to access enterprise-grade procurement capabilities without the cost of building an internal team. “Our delivery model gives smaller businesses the same structure, governance and commercial rigour as much larger organisations, allowing them to improve procurement performance while remaining focused on running their core business.”
