HaysMac names Nicky Whitehead director in social purpose team
Nicky Whitehead has become a director in HaysMac’s social purpose team. The move further reinforces the firm’s offering to not-for-profit organisations.
Steve Harper, head of social purpose at HaysMac, said, “Nicky brings a fantastic blend of technical expertise, sector insight and genuine passion for the organisations we work with. His experience advising complex charities, combined with his hands-on involvement as a trustee, means he truly understands the challenges our clients face. As we continue to grow our Social Purpose offering, Nicky will play a key role in strengthening our audit capability and supporting clients to navigate an increasingly complex landscape.”
In January 2026, HaysMac celebrated its 25th anniversary, marking a quarter-century of delivering exceptional service, fostering talent, and making a positive impact in the social purpose and wider business community. Earlier in the year, this saw the firm strengthen its non-profit support with the hire of audit director Andrew Roberts. In the newly announced 2026 Top Consulting Firms listings on Consultancy.uk, this saw HaysMac rated silver in the non-profit category.
The arrival of Whitehead builds on this further, as he brings his extensive experience advising charities, membership bodies and arts and culture organisations. A previous director at Crowe, having trained and qualified at PwC, he brings deep expertise across financial reporting, governance, risk and systems, and specialises in delivering high-quality and robust audits across the social purpose sector.
Natasha Frangos, managing partner at HaysMac, added, “We’re delighted to welcome Nicky to HaysMac. Strategic lateral hires like Nicky are a key part of how we continue to strengthen our offering, bringing in deep sector expertise that adds immediate value to our clients. The social purpose sector remains a focus for the firm, and Nicky’s experience, insight and passion for the organisations we advise make him an excellent addition to the team, reflecting our continued commitment to delivering impact for our clients and the wider community we serve.”
Alongside his professional work, Whitehead is an active contributor to the sector. He is currently a trustee of the Born Free Foundation and previously served as a trustee of the Jane Goodall Institute UK. His passion for conservation and the natural world reflects a genuine commitment to making a positive impact beyond client work.
Commenting on his appointment, Whitehead concluded, “I’m delighted to be joining HaysMac at such an exciting time for the firm and its social purpose team. The opportunity to work with a broad range of organisations, all making a real difference, was a huge draw. I’m looking forward to bringing my experience to support clients in strengthening governance, enhancing reporting, and navigating the evolving challenges facing the sector.”
