Evolve Corporate Finance adds Richard Ellis to partner team

Evolve Corporate Finance has appointed Richard Ellis as a partner. He becomes the firm’s fifth partner.

Established in 2022, Evolve Corporate Finance is an M&A firm that works predominantly with owner-managers in the SME market on transactions between £5 million and £100 million. Since its inception, the firm has grown to size of around a dozen professionals working from hubs in Birmingham and London.

Newly hired partner Richard Ellis – who joins from Clearwater – has been handed the remit to expand the firm’s presence in the East Midlands. In his client-facing role, Ellis advises clients on sell-side and buy-side transactions nationally and internationally – over half of the deals Evolve Corporate Finance closes have an international component.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the team at Evolve Corporate Finance and to help drive the growth of the firm at an exciting time in their journey,” said Ellis.

“Evolve Corporate Finance has built an excellent reputation in the market – and I’m proud and excited to be joining such a great team. The East Midlands is a region that consistently punches above its weight delivering significant M&A activity, and I’m looking forward to working with the local professional and business community in my new role to drive further activity in the region.”

At Clearwater (a larger counterpart), Ellis worked with owner-managers and private equity investors on transactions in sectors such as technology, business services, and healthcare. Before his role at Clearwater, Ellis qualified as a Chartered Accountant with BDO.

“Richard’s appointment marks another significant step for us as a business and reaffirms our commitment to supporting the Midlands region. He brings a wealth of experience to our team and an impressive track record for delivering deals. The East Midlands represents our next major growth opportunity, and Richard is perfectly placed to lead that expansion,” stated David Neate, partner at Evolve Corporate Finance.

Evolve Corporate Finance’s three other partners are Jonathan Wright, Justin Sparks and Tom Hammond.
