Forvis Mazars launches foundation supporting under-resourced young people

Forvis Mazars has become the latest professional services firm to launch its own charitable foundation in the UK. Dedicated to improving social mobility across the UK, the firm will work to support ‘under-resourced’ young people to improve better outcomes.
James Gilbey, chief executive officer at Forvis Mazars in the UK, commented, “Forvis Mazars has always been committed to making a difference, building on a legacy of 40 years of charitable giving through the Mazars Charitable Trust… Every young person deserves the chance to reach their full potential, and through the foundation, we aim to provide the support to make that happen.”
The Forvis Mazars Foundation launched formally on National Social Mobility Day. Part of its core mission will be to support young people by “delivering flexible funding, fostering collaboration, and supporting the charitable sector to ensure long-term, sustainable change”.
Funded by an annual donation from partners in the British wing of Forvis Mazars, the foundation will support charities across the UK that work with young people aged up to 25. Meanwhile professionals from Forvis Mazars will also provide pro bono services and skilled volunteering to its partners.
This will look to address three social mobility factors in particular. Reducing the attainment gap by supporting children, parents and carers to develop foundational skills such as literacy and numeracy to ensure success at school; preparing young people for life by providing equal access to opportunities that build essential life skills, including teamwork, leadership, ambition, and self-belief; and widening access to education and employment by helping young adults gain the networks, relationships, and cultural knowledge needed to succeed in education and the job market.
At launch, the foundation has announced it will provide £400,000 of funding to the six charity partners across the UK. The partners are homeless employment service EveryYouth; state school alumni network Future First; student engagement group Get Further; business bootcamp Leadership Through Sport & Business; educational infrastructure organisation Learning with Parents; and carer-support network My Time Young Carers.
