Over 20 consulting firms named among UK’s best small companies to work for

The Sunday Times has unveiled its 2025 list of the best small companies to work for in the UK. More than 20 consulting firms made the prestigious career-focused ranking.
The UK consulting industry is dominated by a number of large players. These generalists tend to hoover up graduate talent in the months leading up to September, as young professionals look to continue their learning, while also picking up important working experience. But all too often, the opportunities offered by smaller firms are over-looked.
Small and mid-sized enterprises can offer access to the same level of expertise as larger firms – they are often founded by former partners of major firms, going into business for themselves – while also presenting the chance for staff to specialise in a niche. At the same time, a smaller headcount means new arrivals will benefit from a close-knit, supportive culture – while also most likely enjoying a better work-life balance than at a larger, less personal working environment.
Highlighting the best places to look for such an environment, The Times has released its 2025 list of small businesses that punch above their weight, when it comes to employee experience. And among the 202 SMEs, there are more than 20 consulting firms, which offer excellent opportunities for their staff to not only learn the ropes, but boost their wellbeing and forge life-long contacts.
