Engineering, design and sustainability consultancy Ramboll has announced the appointment of Ann Gordon as market director for transport in the UK and Ireland. She has been with Ramboll since joining the firm as a graduate, two decades previously.

Stefan Wallmann, global transport managing director, Ramboll, commented, “It’s fantastic to be welcoming Ann into her new position. In her new role, she will be working with the global leadership teams as well as those for the UK & Ireland, so we will be working together closely to support our ambitions for growth alongside achieving our mission to act as the Partner for Sustainable Change to all our clients.”

Gordon assumes the role having previously been a project director in Ramboll’s transport project management team, and a master-planning market lead. In her new role, Gordon’s main focus will have sustainable transport at its heart – as she looks to drive a nature-positive approach to the sector, while strengthening Ramboll’s growing presence in decarbonising the transport field, in line with the UK’s net zero targets.

Ramboll is a global architecture, engineering and consultancy company, founded in Denmark in 1945. The firm’s global team of 18,000 experts now work to create sustainable solutions across transport, the built environment, the utilities and management consulting.

Gordon has been with Ramboll for 20 years, starting with the firm as a graduate, and has worked on projects across the world in Europe, America and the Middle East during her extensive tenure. She is known for being a passionate people advocate and for her strong client-centric approach, having been responsible for some of Ramboll’s highest profile projects in the UK and Ireland, including HS2 and Digital Rail.

Looking ahead, Gordon sees the decarbonisation of the transport sector as key to the UK achieving its net zero targets, and with investment into sustainable transport across the world gathering pace to help meet carbon emission targets. She will play an instrumental role in supporting Ramboll’s continued growth in this regard.

Commenting on her appointment, Gordon added, “I’m very excited to be joining Ramboll’s leadership team for transport at such a crucial time and to be supporting the UK and Ireland’s sustainable infrastructure ambitions. I’m also looking forward to driving collaboration across Ramboll to bring holistic, sustainable, and innovative solutions to our clients. Empowering others has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career so far and I’m very pleased to have the opportunity to build on that even further in this new role.”
