Develop Consulting hires Steve Betts as senior consultant
Steve Betts has joined Develop Consulting. Arriving as a senior consultant, he brings more than 25 years of experience in operational excellence and leadership development to the firm.
Speaking on his new role, Betts commented, “I’m excited to be joining at such an important time in the company’s growth. What really attracted me to the role was the company’s approach of doing the right thing for the client while working with like-minded, motivated people. I’m looking forward to combining my operational expertise with my passion for people development to help our clients achieve their full potential.”
Develop Consulting is an advisory firm focusing on applying lean principles in the manufacturing and healthcare spaces. It celebrated its fifth year in business at the start of 2024, and has so far supported over 300 projects for 50 clients since its launch.
As Develop looks to build on that momentum, Betts brings a quarter-century of experience to the Midlands-based consultancy, having worked across multiple sectors including automotive, aerospace, nuclear, food manufacturing, and renewable energy. That includes a 17-year stint at Toyota Manufacturing UK – where Develop’s CEO Steve Boam also cut his teeth in lean manufacturing methods – during which time Betts helped roll out operational excellence programmes, and served as a master trainer, developing over 1,000 staff members across multiple shifts.
Betts joins Develop Consulting as a senior consultant, and will work within the manufacturing and construction portfolio. There, he will report to Construction, Operations and Manufacturing Director Steve Clark, while leveraging his expertise in operational transformation and people development.
Clark added, “We are delighted to welcome Steve to our team. His extensive background in manufacturing excellence and proven track record in delivering successful transformation projects across various industries aligns perfectly with our commitment to helping businesses optimise their operations.”
The appointment comes as part of Develop Consulting’s continued growth strategy, following their recent achievement of platinum status in healthcare consulting; and silver rankings in the construction, manufacturing, and automotive sectors from Consultancy.uk’s annual industry rankings.
