Capco launches energy practice in the UK market
Global management and technology consultancy Capco has rolled out its energy practice in the UK. The wing will be headed up by Rob Deakin, who has been with the consultancy for more than 13 years.
With a growing client portfolio comprising of over 100 global organisations, Capco is a global technology and management consultancy specialising in driving digital transformation in the financial services industry. With the global drive to net zero continuing at pace, this remit has also seen it come in for significant demand for energy services.
As Capco helps financial sector clients reposition their energy contracts around the world, and assists energy firms with sourcing the funds they need for the green transition, the consultancy has already fulfilled engagements bridging finance, energy, risk, and trading in the US and Brazil. Now, the firm has opted to extend its energy practice into the UK.
Lance McAnelly, global head of energy at Capco, commented, “Energy businesses are under increasing pressure including regulatory, capital cost, societal, geopolitical, and energy transition related change. The transition to a greener energy future is also creating both opportunities and challenges for traditional energy businesses as they strive to reach net zero carbon emissions goals by 2050.”
Established in Texas over 25 years ago and with a strong footprint today in both the Americas, Capco’s energy consulting business includes practices focused on the entire energy value chain including utilities, TRM, energy transition, retail and wholesale energy, oil and gas, and midstream. Expanding this into the UK will draw on Capco’s track record of driving transformation across both the financial services and energy industries, leveraging Capco’s significant experience for UK energy clients.
With the launch, Capco has confirmed that Rob Deakin will serve as the head of the practice. Based in London, the long-standing partner at Capco will focus on building out and accelerating the growth of Capco’s energy practice in the UK.
He brings over 20 years of consulting and industry experience, having joined Capco in 2011. Prior to that, he also delivered transformational consulting services to BP and Shell across Europe and North America. This work encompassed trading and operations consulting, along with strategic advice on regulatory remediation.
Deakin added, “The acceleration of investment in renewable energy and distributed energy resources is creating a pressing need for domain expertise focused on organizational transformation and digitization to reduce the risks these changes have created. With our strong energy domain knowledge and proven execution ability, Capco is ideally placed to assist energy businesses across the value chain with these change initiatives.”
