Thousands of pounds have been raised for St Elizabeth Hospice following the latest edition of the Ingleton Wood Charity Football Tournament. Hosted by the Colchester-headquartered consultancy, the tournament was eventually won by accounting firm Scrutton Bland.

Founded in 1935, Ingleton Wood is a professional services firm with six offices in the UK. As well as its headquarters in Colchester, these include locales in Norwich, Oakington, London, Witney and Nottingham. The firm provides clients with multidisciplinary services across a wide range of industry sectors, including commercial, health, education, residential, defence, heritage, leisure and community.

Ingleton Wood raised almost £2,000 for the St Elizabeth Hospice, after welcoming over 100 players, organisers and guests at their seventh annual event, hosted with the help of the Colchester Powerleague team. A roster of 16 teams vied for glory at the tournament, comprised of Ingleton Wood’s clients and contractors.

This year’s tournament saw accounting brand Scrutton Bland retain its title, having also picked up the coveted tournament trophy in 2023. Scrutton Bland took home the silverware this time by defeating Richard Utting Associates in a “hotly contested final fixture”.

Once again, however, the real winner of the contest was St Elizabeth Hospice. The Suffolk-based independent charity supports over 3,000 individuals and their families every year throughout East Suffolk, Great Yarmouth, and Waveney. Those they support are living with a progressive or life-limiting illness.

With services costing almost £13 million per year to deliver, and with a significant portion of funding dependent upon the generosity of the community, donations are vital for the continued operation of the charity. Every penny of the nearly-£2,000 donation raised by Ingleton Wood’s tournament therefore helps.

Liz Baldwin, corporate and sponsorship fundraising manager for St Elizabeth Hospice, commented, “Thank you to Ingleton Wood for hosting their fundraising football tournament – it looks like a brilliant time was had by all. A big thank you, as well, to all the teams who took part and to everybody who supported the event. You have raised a fantastic amount for the hospice, which will make a big difference to patients under our care.”

A spokesman for Ingleton Wood also thanked all who took part – either on the pitch or from the sidelines – as well as Colchester Powerleague.
