Interpath Advisory has installed a new director in its financial services deal advisory practice. Zohair Motiwala joins to work alongside Nick Parkhouse to support financial institutions on M&A and Debt Advisory mandates.

Parkhouse, who is the head of financial services deal advisory at Interpath, said, “It is fantastic to have someone of Zohair’s calibre join our fast-growing Financial Services Transactions team. The Interpath ethos, culture and approach has already gone down exceptionally well in the Financial Services Debt Advisory market where we have had great traction, and we can’t wait to launch our loan portfolio diligence team in September. Zohair now joins to help us begin our journey in the Financial Services M&A market where, in short order, we believe we can become a key advisor to the mid-market.”

Arriving from investment bank Alantra, Motiwala brings more than 15 years’ experience advising corporates and private equity clients on M&A, capital raising, due diligence and valuations. At that firm, he was the M&A team’s valuations and modelling leader, and spearheaded some of its most prominent transactions across banking, debt purchase market, and specialty finance. This has helped him develop expertise in financial modelling and analysis across a number of key verticals in financial services, including fintech, specialty finance, payments, banks, insurance, brokers and asset and wealth managers.

Looking ahead, as a director Motiwala will help grow Interpath’s financial services deal advisory offering in the UK. He’ll also work alongside Stuart Mogg who leads Interpath’s financial services debt and capital advisory business; Interpath’s securitisation lead Jenna Picken; and Ed Boyle who heads restructuring for the financial services practice.

Commenting on his appointment, Motiwala said, “Interpath is creating a formidable team dedicated to the Financial Services market. Its independence and full service offering and focus on deploying senior counsel to support institutions is impressive, refreshing and just what the market was looking for. I look forward to working with Nick and the team to support our Financial Services clients achieve their growth ambitions and guide them on a wide range of advisory services, from capital raising and M&A, to navigating complex strategic situations.”

The news comes as Interpath continues to beef up its consulting offering. In a difficult set of financial results at the end of 2023, the firm’s advisory wing was its fastest-growing line of business, leading it to prioritise its expansion in the current year.
