The British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) 2024 season kick offs next week with a race at Donington Park, with consulting firm Emixa serving as the primary sponsor of Team BMW.

Since its inception in 1958, the BTCC has grown into one of the most popular motor racing championships in the world, captivating millions of fans around the world. In 2022, the BTCC became the first major touring car series to transition to hybrid power.

The 2024 season will see 10 different teams battle for the crown across races between April and October, including Team BMW (run by West Surrey Racing) with a driver line-up consisting of Colin Turkington, Stephen Jelley, and Adam Morgan.

Team BMW will drive the latest BMW 3 Series production model, with the car enjoying aerodynamic, cooling and chassis upgrades compared to the previous season. While the BMW 3 Series will once again wear its trademark M colours, the primary sponsor on the car has undergone change, with Emixa stepping into the spotlight.

While the brand may be new, Emixa and Team BMW have a relationship that goes back roughly a decade, beginning with the development of the BMW 125i M Sport race car. That relationship was incepted and led by OnePLM, one of the top Siemens Digital Industries partners in Europe. OnePLM earlier this year rebranded as Emixa.

“We’re very pleased to extend our partnership with Emixa into the 2024 BTCC season. Emixa have played an important role in many of our title successes for more than a decade and we hope to have many more successes together,” said Dick Bennetts, Team Principal at West Surrey Racing.

Among the successes celebrated together have been championship titles, independents’ crowns and dozens of race victories.

In preparation of the 2024 season, Emixa “has been vital in helping us find quick and efficient solutions to what could have been a few tricky design challenges as we upgrade our BMW 3 Series racing cars for the coming season,” said Bennetts.

Commenting on the partnership, Mark Parry, Managing Director at Emixa in the UK & Ireland, said: “Our 10+ year technical partnership with West Surrey Racing is a testament to our commitment to excellence in design and manufacturing. By providing access to the Siemens PLM software suite, we’ve empowered them to craft the most advanced race car possible.”

“Our collaboration ensures they leverage the full spectrum of CAD, CAM, CAE, and PLM capabilities, enabling precision engineering and unparalleled performance on the track. We're proud to support the 16-time BTCC champions in their pursuit of victory, driving digitalisation forward together.”

Emixa has over 530 professionals in several European countries and is headquartered in the Netherlands. West Surrey Racing run Team BMW is based in Sunbury-on-Thames.

On the objectives for this season, Bennetts stated: “The target is to add to the 16 overall championship titles. We’ve worked on several areas of the BMW 330e M Sport over the winter, all aimed at improving overall performance. I say it every year, but the level of competition keeps on increasing so once again we have to make sure we perform better than ever if we’re to achieve our goals this year.”
