CCi launches new 4D model service in UK
Capital Consulting International has announced the launch of its digital technology and 4D service. The new offering will be headed up by Martin Bedford, who joins as an associate director to lead and grow the service.
Chris McCormick, managing director for delay in the EMEA wing of Capital Consulting International (CCi), said, "I am delighted that Martin has joined CCi as the Digital Technology and 4D service lead. Martin brings with him extensive experience in this field, so I look forward to working with him and his team in this exciting and fast-moving part of the industry."
CCi is a global professional services firm, supplying integrated delay, quantum, and technical expert solutions to the insurance and construction industries. Headquartered in London, the advisory has roughly 200 consultants worldwide, and access to a further 1,400-person network through its parent Rimkus Consulting Group, a US-headquartered professional services network.
As a company which specialises in integrated delay, quantum, and technical expert solutions to the insurance and construction industries, CCi has recently seen demand rise for services which can help visualise the delivery of projects. As such, CCi’s strategic decision to launch its new ‘Digital Technology’ service was driven by a necessity to adapt to the industry's changing landscape and its desire to support clients in driving efficiency and mitigating risks on construction projects.
While 3D modelling is already used by planners to incorporate various datasets in addition to the design, encompassing logistics, safety information, temporary works, and interfaces, new technology has led to the rise of 4D models. These see 3D models linked to real-time data, programmes, or schedules to generate visual sequences. The outputs can be used to assist all interested parties to better understand complex projects in a simple way, thereby improving communication and enhancing stakeholder engagement.
To that end, CCi hopes to use 4D visualisation technology to provide its clients with a comprehensive and dynamic view of their construction projects by integrating time data and the traditional 3D spatial representation. This allows stakeholders to gain clearer insights into project timelines, potential risks, and overall project management.
Heading up these new efforts, Bedford brings over ten years of experience as a planning manager applying 4D planning techniques. He has worked on a range of high-profile construction projects as a 4D planner, supporting projects in developing BIM level 2 standards, digital capabilities, and driving efficiency through the application of 4D processes.
Speaking on his role, the new associate director added, "It is great to join CCi at such a pivotal time. I look forward to helping the team expand on its services within Digital Technology and 4D, driving efficiency within the industry and allowing us to enhance our clients' experience."
