Atos signs with UEFA to deliver crucial IT services at EURO 2024
Atos has been announced as the remote and on-site IT services delivery partner for UEFA Euro 2024. The consultancy was already named as the official technology partner of UEFA for national team tournaments last year.
Founded in 1997, Atos is a French multinational professional services firm, headquartered in Bezons, France. The firm’s worldwide offices offer support for clients with high-tech transactional services, unified communications, cloud, big data and cybersecurity services.
Digital transformation is touching every corner of the economy at present, and sport is no different. As a result, recent years have seen top sporting bodies increasingly turn to Atos for support with their use of technology – and in 2022, this saw European football’s governing body turn to Atos for help using technology to improve its operations, and support national team football events.
One year later, Atos has been announced as the official delivery partner for UEFA’s flagship men’s international tournament. As both a remote and on-site partner, Atos will be responsible for managing core IT planning and operations systems which are integral to the successful delivery of Euro 2024 – which is being hosted in Germany in the summer.
UEFA Events SA CEO Martin Kallen commented, “We look forward to making the UEFA Euro 2024 an extraordinary digital experience for all our football fans and the European football family. Benefitting from the extensive expertise acquired by Atos as an IT partner on major sporting events, we are delighted to be working together to deliver the most connected Euro ever.”
To provide the best experience for all stakeholders, from players to fans and media, Atos will be responsible for managing core IT planning and operations systems. This includes managing the football service platform which stores and distributes data including fixtures, results, line-ups, live match events, standings, statistics, players status and ranking. Atos will also deliver a range of event management systems and online platforms including the mobile app and website.
Atos will also provide on-site and remote support from different locations starting with ICT venue managers, venue application coordinators and service desk operators present in the 10 tournament stadiums to ensure the efficiency and the reliability of our systems. A second group will be present at the International Broadcast Center located in Leipzig which will host the IT Command Center of UEFA. Technical teams will also be mobilised from Nyon, Madrid, Barcelona and other locations to provide remote assistance to any on-site posting and ensure the business continuity of the services delivered to UEFA.
Patrick Adiba, CEO for major events at Atos, added, “Atos is excited to work alongside UEFA to provide a seamless experience to all the people attending the UEFA EURO 2024™, the football fans, media and all the stakeholders involved. Our whole core expertise will serve this competition to successfully onboard all football fans worldwide.”
