Tom McGinness joins Interpath as special advisor

Interpath Advisory has appointed Tom McGinness as a special advisor. He brings a wealth of experience to the role, following a three-decade career with a Big Four firm.

Headquartered in London, Interpath the largest independent corporate turnaround firm in Britain. The professional services firm specialises in restructuring and advisory work for clients around the world, having been created from a £400 million carve-out of KPMG’s restructuring wing.

As the firm looks to build on its early success, Interpath’s advisory committee has been a key part of that process. The team holds decades of shared experience and sector expertise, with each member is able to bring a unique and fresh perspective to conversations with clients around the challenges and opportunities they face.

McGinness joins the committee specifically to support family offices, as well as family and privately-owned businesses – helping to navigate issues including debt financing, the optimisation of assets, ESG, governance and succession planning.

Commenting on the news, McGinness added, “I’ve followed Interpath’s journey closely since the Company launched back in 2021 and have been impressed by their drive to offer a service that combines the quality and experience of the Big Four with the hunger and agility of a boutique firm. In particular, I know there’s a lot of opportunity within the private capital market for advisors who can build bespoke, trusted relationships, so I’m looking forward to helping Interpath further enhance their presence in this space.”

Prior to joining Interpath, McGinness was a senior partner at KPMG where, over the course of a career spanning over thirty years. In that time, he advised a wide range of privately-owned and family-owned businesses, as well as high net worth individuals, on matters including ESG, tax, family governance and succession planning. He also boasts particular experience working with businesses in the construction and real estate sector, having previously worked with companies including Wates Group, Bestway Group and Arora International Hotels Group.

The appointment comes shortly after Interpath also added a trio of new managing directors to its UK team. Stuart Reid and Matthew Townsend were promoted to the rank, while Louise Smith joined the firm’s transactions buisness as an external hire.
