Novata selects ERM for ESG data partnership
Global sustainability consultancy ERM has been picked for a new partnership with data management platform Novata. The collaboration will help provide Novata’s clients with actionable insights to boost their ESG efforts.

Founded with the mission to help enable a more sustainable and inclusive form of capitalism, Novata is a public benefit corporation formed by the Ford Foundation, Hamilton Lane, Microsoft, S&P Global, Omidyar Network, and more than a dozen private equity firms and pension funds. Its core focus is supplying ESG data management platform that empowers private companies to collect, analyse, benchmark and report relevant ESG information.
According to ERM’s website, it is the world’s largest pure play sustainability consultancy. As such, ERM’s sustainability services – spanning strategic transformation and technical delivery capabilities – are well-placed to complement Novata’s data management and analytics platform, helping supply private companies and their owners with the insights required to enhance ESG decision-making and reporting, and deliver on their sustainability commitments.

A growing number of the world’s largest businesses are keen to be seen as committed to net zero drives, with one-third having publicly unveiled campaigns to downscale emissions. However, one of the key barriers for firms currently seems to be accurately measuring what their emissions actually are – with fewer than one-quarter of organisations were well informed on the emissions sources in their supply chain alone.
Working together, ERM CVS, an independent assurance and certification provider which is part of the wider ERM Group, and Novata will enable companies to gather and analyse the ESG data required to achieve independent assurance of their ESG performance, while helping them satisfy growing stakeholder demands for ESG transparency, meet increasing regulatory requirements and unlock commercial opportunities.
