ERM establishes net zero partnership with Salesforce

Sustainability consultancy ERM has agreed a new partnership with Salesforce, aimed at helping organisations on their decarbonisation journeys. Salesforce and ERM will work together to bring clients decarbonisation services like ‘Net Zero Cloud’, to help clients report on ESG goals.

A growing number of the world’s largest businesses are keen to be seen as committed to net zero drives, with one-third having publicly unveiled campaigns to downscale emissions. However, research indicates the majority are struggling to live up to their own hype, and will miss their goals even if they double the pace of their emissions reductions by the end of the decade. One of the barriers for firms currently seems to be accurately measuring what their emissions actually are – with fewer than one-quarter of organisations were well informed on the emissions sources in their supply chain.

ERM is the world’s largest pure play sustainability consultancy, with annual revenues of more than $1 billion, and more than 5,000 employees. As the consultancy looks to help its clients accelerate their decarbonisation journeys and deliver on their sustainability goals, it has teamed up with software giant Salesforce, to offer a new set of end-to-end decarbonisation services across the client lifecycle – utilising Salesforce’s sustainability management solution, Net Zero Cloud.

With annual revenues over $26 billion, Salesforce is one of the world’s biggest customer relationship management platforms, providing clients with CRM software and applications focused on sales, customer service, marketing automation, e-commerce, analytics, and application development. The firm’s Net Zero Cloud enables organisations to manage their environmental footprint,

Matt Klein, Global Corporate Sustainability & Climate Change Co-Head at ERM, commented, “Businesses today face the urgent challenge of accelerating their decarbonisation progress while driving profitable revenue growth. By combining Net Zero Cloud’s insight into carbon emissions with ERM’s decarbonisation strategy and delivery expertise, our partnership with Salesforce will help organisations implement comprehensive decarbonisation plans to support their sustainability goals and harness the opportunities offered by the transition to a net zero economy.”

Net Zero Cloud tracks and integrates data including Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions, energy use and waste and water management from multiple sources. This means it can provide a reliable source of environmental data, helping businesses across all industries use it to simulate change scenarios, and forecast their emissions and measure progress against net zero goals.

Speaking on the potential of introducing Net Zero Cloud to ERM’s ecosystem of partners, Tyler Harnish, Head of Global Distribution, Net Zero Cloud at Salesforce, added, “We are excited to partner with ERM to leverage Net Zero Cloud within organisations of all sizes and across industries to accelerate their journey to net zero.”
