Arup appoints David Algie as Belfast Office Leader
Global engineering consultancy Arup has announced the appointment of David Algie, as its new Belfast office leader. An employee of more than 15 years, he also leads Arup’s property and infrastructure wing in Northern Ireland.
Having made a return to the office, after the lockdown period of the pandemic, Arup is looking forward to re-engage with Belfast and its businesses. As the city looks to grow and transform in a sustainable, inclusive and resilient way, Algie will work to build important links to companies that will need the firm’s help.
“Our strength is our people, being an employee owned firm and we will continue to collaborate with our partners, drive innovation and build purposeful relationships along the way across the city and wider region,” Algie noted. “This will help achieve our continued ambitions for Arup Belfast and continue to deliver quality commissions for our clients.”
Throughout his career, Algie has worked on and led a wide range of projects in Europe, the Middle East and Australasia. He is passionate about achieving sustainable outcomes combining excellence, innovation and efficiency in design.
An Associate Director and Chartered Engineer who has worked at Arup for over 15 years, he will now work to facilitate the impact Arup’s Belfast office can have across the city. He will perform the role in conjunction with his other job at Arup – which sees him lead the firm’s property, industry, technology and social infrastructure team across Northern Ireland. The team has a wide spectrum of multi-disciplinary design experience covering many sectors including commercial property and healthcare.
Dedicated to sustainable development, Arup is a collective of designers, consultants and experts working globally. Founded to be humane and excellent, we collaborate with our clients and partners, using imagination, technology and rigour to shape a better world. Its focus on sustainability recently saw it pick up two highly commended nods at the annual MCA Awards.
