John Ammentorp joins Arup as head of global energy
Arup has appointed John Ammentorp as its new global energy leader. The move comes as the firm pursues plans to grow its global energy business and support clients navigating the energy transition.
Richard de Cani, chief officer for global business and markets at Arup, said, “I’m absolutely delighted that we’re bringing into Arup global energy expert John Ammentorp, who will draw on his extensive experience working across the Nordics, Europe and the rest of the world to help Arup expand its energy offer to clients worldwide.”
Global advisory firm Arup is an independent firm of designers, planners, engineers, consultants and technical specialists offering a broad range of professional services. It employs roughly 17,000 people in over 90 offices across 35 countries – and regularly works with public and private sector clients looking to overhaul key infrastructure and policies.
Four years ago the firm dedicated its expertise and technical knowledge to support the global energy transition. Since then, Arup’s energy business has outpaced the expanding energy market at a 16% compound annual growth rate. It is projected to be in the top five Arup business areas by turnover by 2030. Arup now aims to double the size of its energy business again over the next four years and expand its ability to guide, plan and design solutions for a low-carbon future.
Ammentorp joins Arup from Rambøll where he most recently served as global service line director for industry and infrastructure facilities, covering energy and transport. He brings nearly 25 years of senior leadership experience in the energy sector, with deep expertise across power systems, transmission and distribution, and the commercial delivery of complex energy infrastructure.
