The Construction Consultants selected for Birmingham redevelopment
Midlands-based The Construction Consultants has been appointed to a major new hospitality scheme in Birmingham. The project, named The Dean, will see the redevelopment of Birmingham’s Grade II listed Methodist Central Hall into a 150-bed hotel.
Originally built in 1904, the Methodist Hall on Corporation Street, Birmingham, is due a transformation in the coming months. In a project aiming for completion in early 2025, developers hope to transform the building into a destination hospitality and leisure scheme. Plans for The Dean Birmingham include a total refurbishment of the listed building, in the heart of the city. Alongside 150 stylish rooms, this will also include the addition of eight new bars and restaurants at ground and basement levels.
In order to realise the project, Irish leisure and hospitality operator, Press Up Hospitality Group and developer, Oakmount, have tapped multi-disciplined construction advisory firm, The Construction Consultants (TCC). TCC will now deliver quantity surveying services at The Dean Birmingham.
Alex Pimley, co-founder and Director of TCC, commented, “We’re very pleased to have been appointed to work on The Dean Birmingham. This is a hugely exciting scheme that will transform a fabulous old building currently on Heritage England's At Risk Register. Work is already underway on site and we are looking forward to working with Press Up Hospitality Group and the wider project team to deliver what promises to be a vibrant hospitality and leisure destination.”
Launched in 2017, TCC specialises in a wide range of disciplines, spanning project management, employer’s agent, quantity surveying, fund monitoring and CDM consultancy. It has already made a name for itself helping redevelop listed buildings, too. It previously helped with the delivery of projects including the refurbishment of the Grade II listed Cosener's House near Oxford, a 70-bed Travelodge scheme in Wiltshire; and the development of several outlets nationwide on behalf of The Gym Group.
TODD Architects has designed the scheme, which will preserve many of the building’s original features, including the rejuvenation of a 1,500-seat event space. It will also deliver a new three-storey rooftop extension, including the creation of a rooftop restaurant with panoramic views across the Birmingham skyline.
