Boston Consulting Group has been selected as the exclusive strategic partner for the COP27 climate summit. The firm was also a key consulting partner for COP26, when the event took place in Glasgow.

The 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27), is the 27th United Nations Climate Change conference. It is scheduled to be held in the city of Sharm-el-Sheikh in early November, under the presidency of Egypt. The event aims to bring together both public and private-sector leaders to turn commitments into action to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement, and build on the work done at build on COP26, which was hosted in Glasgow last year.

COP26, which occurred when the climate change conference was under the presidency of the UK, saw Boston Consulting Group (BCG) was as Consultancy Partner. The role complemented its other partnerships aimed at shaping a global climate agenda, including its alliance with the World Wide Fund for Nature, the TED Countdown, the Science Based Targets Initiative, and the Carbon Disclosure Project.

BCG named exclusive strategic partner for COP27 conference

One year on, BCG is furthering its partnership with COP27, having been announced as Exclusive Strategic Partner to the event. In that capacity, BCG will provide analytical capabilities and industry insights from its extensive experience in helping companies, governments, and multilateral organizations accelerate their climate and sustainability journey.

“COP27 is another critical moment to mobilize public and private actors in the urgent pursuit to limit global warming. We are honoured to play a role in support of COP27, hosted in Egypt,” said Christoph Schweizer, CEO of BCG. “At COP26, we saw progress across a broad agenda, but we need to go further and faster, even in spite of the global economic downturn and geopolitical challenges.”

Sameh Shoukry – Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Egyptian Government, and COP27 President-Designate – also welcomed the news. According to a release from BCG, he indicated that BCG has demonstrated longstanding commitment and deep expertise in advancing the climate agenda, and as the Presidency’s Strategic Partner, the MBB consultancy will play an integral role in support of efforts to mobilise the international community for climate action.

The news comes as BCG continues to strengthen its climate credentials. Earlier in 2022, the company set out its stall in aiming to recruit a new generation of climate-savvy staff, appealing directly to climate activists to join the ranks of its consultants.
