Mace employees select Mind as Charity of the Year 2016
Mental health charity Mind has been selected as Charity of the Year 2016 for the Mace Foundation. Over 2,000 Mace employees around the world voted and selected Mind as the beneficiary of Mace’s £25,000 donation. The consulting firm will also work with the charity to raise mental health awareness among its own ranks.

Founded in 1946, Mind is a mental health charity in England and Wales that provides information and advice for anyone with experience of mental health problems, allowing them to “make their own choices and access the treatment and support that are right for them.” Mind also campaigns to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. The charity network consist of 150 local Minds that together are supporting more than 400,000 people through services such as housing, crisis helplines, drop-in centres, employment and training schemes, counselling and befriending.
To close its 25th anniversary celebrations*, Mace has run a Charity of the Year campaign for its Mace Foundation**, asking its more than 2,000 employees around the world to nominate a charity of their choice. This campaign resulted in Mind being crowned as the winner. “I’m delighted that Mace employees overwhelmingly voted for Mind as our Charity of the Year for 2016. Mental health is an increasingly important issue for the industry, as well as for us at Mace,” comments Chairman of Mace Foundation Mark Reynolds. “This partnership means that we can not only better support our people but also provide much needed funds for the charity’s wider programme of work.”
As the firm’s new charity partner, Mind will receive £25,000 in funds. This money will be spend to offer support to 3,012 people to help them take the first step towards better managing their mental health. In addition, Mace will work with the charity on mental health awareness campaigns across its sites and offices and offer volunteering opportunities and fundraising events for its employees.

* In August 2015, the consulting firm also organised ‘Race for Mace’ running event in London, as part of its celebrations, with which it raised almost £28,000 for the Mace Foundation.
** The Mace Foundation was launched by Mace in 2012 to provide disadvantaged people and communities with support. The foundation actively donates to charities and not-for-profit organisations and provides support through strategic partnerships, such as with outdoor-education charity Outward Bound and with gallery Tate.
