Communications strategy firm Trequartista Consulting launches
At the start of November 2021, PR consultant Chris Wilson has launched a communications strategy firm of his own. After a decade in communications and media consulting, the launch of Trequartista Consulting sees him offer management consultancy services, “rooted in communications.”
Commenting on the news, Trequartista Consulting Founder Chris Wilson noted, “Trequartista is a business where everyone will be encouraged to be individual, to bring personality and advise their clients the way they think best without feeling they need to conform to a senior director/ or business-owner’s pre-determined idea of what an employee should look like.”
Wilson was most recently Communications Lead at Coutts, a wealth management firm and private bank. Prior to this he also held senior communications roles with The PR Office, City Road Communications, Citigate Dewe Rogerson and Dice Medical Communications – while he currently holds the role of Head Media Strategist with workplace inclusion non-profit, reboot. Despite this CV heavily centred on communications work, however, Wilson is keen to note that the firm will leverage this experience toward the end of management consulting services.
“I have been lucky enough to learn from some amazing senior professionals over the years,” Wilson explained, “but also from some terrible leaders who believe only in themselves and their abilities yet delivering very poor advice and results… All my career I have wondered why so often the so-called more junior members of the team do most of the work for very little of the reward. And so, I’m developing a consultancy where those who deliver the results for clients will reap the rewards.”
To that end, Trequartista Consulting will feature a model Wilson thinks will “encourage more entrepreneurial consultants.” Advisors who bring in new business won’t simply receive “a small cut as a bonus” – instead, they will pocket “the majority of the monthly fee every single month.” The rest will be used to pay and train support staff who will assist with the day-to-day work. From there, advisors and support staff will be encouraged to build their own business under the Trequartista model.
Highlighting why the sector-agnostic firm will offer a holistic service that includes communications and corporate strategy work, Wilson concluded, “Being the person who has had to promote and protect a number of businesses means you often get a seat at the top table in order to understand exactly what those businesses are going through. That’s why Trequartista doesn’t just advise on external, internal, client and supplier communications as well as public affairs, but on corporate strategy, business development and risk management too.”
Trequartista Consulting’s virtual doors formally opened at the start of November. The homepage of its website states it will soon be “bringing a sense of flair to corporate strategy and communications consulting”, and the business has already launched with five clients. According to a release from Trequartista Consulting, these include a FTSE listed financial services firm to an EduTech start-up.
