Technology and consulting firm Naviq launches for the travel sector
Naviq Technology is launching as an ‘AI-first company’, built specifically for the global travel industry. Backed by a $500 million investment over the next five years, the IBS Group venture will operate independently within the group, working with global airlines, airports, cruise lines, vacation providers, and hospitality groups on large-scale transformation programmes.
VK Mathews, executive chairman of IBS Group, said, “The global travel industry is at a turning point, with organisations seeking smarter ways to operate and future-proof their businesses,” he said. “Naviq gives the market something it has not had before: a technology and consulting company that understands the complexities of global travel and offers transformative solutions at scale using specialised AI tools. Backed by IBS Software’s deep expertise in travel technology, Naviq will help travel achieve greater agility, efficiency and growth, and open new revenue streams.”
Founded in 1997, IBS Software is a travel technology company, delivering travel intelligence that enables more resilient decision-making across aviation, cargo and logistics, and leisure and hospitality. Spanning airline retailing, passenger services, loyalty, fleet, hub and crew operations, cargo management, and cloud-native platforms for hotels and cruise line operators, the firm operates from 16 offices globally.
Naviq embarks on its mission with around 2,000 professionals across 16 global offices, and plans to expand significantly over the next five years. IBS Group has committed around $500 million to the venture over the period, with the global travel sector it serves valued at close to $12 trillion.
Looking ahead, Naviq will work to partner with global airlines, airports, cruise lines, vacation providers, and hospitality groups on large-scale transformation programmes to enable them adopt AI at scale to create new revenue lines, alongside customer experience transformation and the use of data to support more intelligent operations. The company expects to grow its workforce to more than 5,000 AI specialists, data scientists, and travel technology professionals, as it develops AI-powered predictive tools and supports major change initiatives for travel organisations.
Moizzur Rahman, president of Naviq, commented, “As organisations move beyond experimentation, there is growing pressure to turn AI into tangible business results at scale. What these businesses need is a partner who understands the travel business deeply enough to turn that experimentation into real results, and that’s the gap Naviq is built to close."
Rahman has previously led consulting and digital transformation at IBS Software. As travel companies face growing pressure to move beyond AI pilots and demonstrate tangible returns on their investments, He will now look to help Naviq combine IBS Software’s decades of travel technology experience with AI capabilities, helping clients modernise operations, improve customer experiences, and identify new sources of revenue.
